Full Version: Hashcat.exe using 100% CPU on a 6 x GPU rig

Hello,

I wonder why Hashcat.exe is using 100% of my CPU in task manager. I have attached a picture of the CPU usage for reference.

I am using hashcat-6.1.1 on a 6 x GPU rig with an Intel i5 processer. I have listed the exact configuration below.
  • Intel i5-9400F CPU

  • 6 x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super

  • Windows 10
Strangely, when I use the same hashcat version on my other setup with an i7 processor and only one GPU, hashcat.exe does not use any CPU in the task manager.

Any feedback/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Please update to hashcat 6.2.1 (and also update CUDA SDK). From changelog:

Quote:CUDA Backend: Use blocking events to avoid 100% CPU core usage (per GPU)
Thanks so much for your help. Upgrading the version to 6.2.1 fixed the issue.
