First, because you did not specify an actual mask, oclhashcat default settings takes over. You have to add ?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a to your command line (or an a better mask representing what you want). However, what is running on the image is length 8 with the first 3 characters masked (*) so --pw-min=8 does work.

if add mask ?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a hashcat non started
Please post your full command line that you are using.
it says the length is 8. it sounds like you just do not know how to read hashcat's output.
