If so, how can this be done?

PowerPoint file is password protected and needs cracking. Is there anyway to get a hash and salt from it some way?

yes, but it is currently not supported by hashcat.

you can use john the ripper, and extract the hash with office2john.

Do you have a link somewhere for office2john. Don't get much in Google with regards to it.
