I am here in this forum to start learning and to contribute what i learn from this community.
I hope that all of the mods and admin will accept me as their loyal user.

A problem i faced while uploading a avatar.
  • The maximum dimensions for avatars are: 100x100 pixels.
  • The maximum file size for avatars is 10 KB.
I get the idea that avatars should be 100x100px but why the max file size not greater than 10KB?
This has to changed since most of time when you edit something of your own in Photoshop. Only a text and and simple background will come above 10KB

from the above picture as you can see i have inserted only the text and the background color but when i try to save it even in it's lowest size possible i still get this size 28.6 KB

Conclusion and suggestion from my end would be to change the max size to 500 KB ( / above 100 ) and min size to 10 KB
Do a little more research into how to make images that compress well. It's quite feasible to make images that are very small. This avatar is only 3K:

ok if that's your suggestion. I quickly went to compressing image site http://compressimage.toolur.com/ and made it from 13.5 KB into ( Successfully compressed from 13.5 KB to 1.9 KB( C, 100%, Normal, Auto x Auto )
But i am unable to upload an image.

Mind telling me why? Because i don't see minimum file size in change avatar section

Here is my compressed file https://a.pomf.cat/dbrbzz.jpg which is now 2.57 kb yet i am still unable to upload the file!
You can also just use the "Avatar URL" functionality and use your URL https://a.pomf.cat/dbrbzz.jpg or any other image service host.
i can use that URL since i get this error
Quote:Please correct the following errors before continuing:

The URL you entered for your avatar does not appear to be valid. Please ensure you enter a valid URL.
My anti-virus warned me of an infection at https://a.pomf.cat/okwnqb.jpg

Since this request is obscure and strange anyway, I advise to close this thread and delete the URLs.
i don't no if this site is infected or not but all i want to do is to upload a profile image and it seems no one is helping me out

Stop whining. You got several answers here. Seems like a classic PEBCAK situation and you're not helping much by saying you're unable to upload the image.

Is there an error occuring? Did you try another image?

Note: It's bad that people these days have no clue what 10kb even mean and how much you can store on there. I started programming on a Sinclair ZX-81 with 1kb RAM. Believe me, 10k is a lot. And everyone here with an avatar stay under the 10k limit.
Make your avatar a PNG file (not jpg), since you are only using 2 colours and simple design it will make it a very small file. If it is below 10K just upload it here, otherwise:

Upload your avatar to https://imgur.com/ (huge image sharing site, way better than other hosts) using the 'new post' button on that site. Once you see your image there, right click it and select 'Open image in new tab' (or similar functionality in your browser). You should now have a link looking like https://i.imgur.com/ABcdefg.png.

Fill that into the URL for profile here, it's a good host that will work.

Not to Hijack the thread or anything, but I have a JPG that is exactly 100x100, with a size on disk of 4KB.

I've tried uploading the file directly, but I get:

  • The file upload failed. Please choose a valid file and try again.

I've tried linking the image through IMGUR, but I get:
