You only need to fix that if you see the error. The message in itself is only a warning. I'm not sure what you mean by "restore the settings" but you can already do everything hashcat does without that timeout patch.
By restoring the settings I guess you want to be able to set the setting back to its original value.
Just backup the config BEFORE applying the patch.
eg. for Windows
- Backup the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers
- patch
- restore the backup if needed (but I don't know why you would need that..)
