lower gpu util in linux - hoze - 01-25-2013 I notice this in linux: HWMon.GPU.#1.: 89% Util , sometime 90,92% , but i windows 7 64bit is allmost all the time 99% util. Is there something wrong in linux? RE: lower gpu util in linux - epixoip - 01-25-2013 depends on a number of factors. algorithm, attack mode, keyspace, -n and --gpu-loops values... and in windows you're probably using your graphics card to drive your display. not sure if you're doing the same in linux, or if your linux box is headless. but there's probably more initial load in windows none the less. Yes, I use for drive display in windows, but in linux too. The commands are the same for linux and windows. I am guessing, but I suspect epixoip meant your Win7 might use a more GPU intensive way of to driving your display. Win7 has some fancy graphical effects ! Have you tried switching to a basic theme ? I also wonder if this is a little bit like wifi drivers. The same physical unit can display different signal strengths with a simple driver update. I suspect it is just the way the strength is reported that has changed. There is of course the other possibility, you know, Win7 is just better than linux !!! ... I'm going to log off now to avoid the the inevitable tirade of abuse from the linux users here RE: lower gpu util in linux - Kuci - 01-27-2013 (01-26-2013, 11:24 PM)Hash-IT Wrote: you know, Win7 is just better than linux !!!Win7 is operating system, linux is just kernel. I haven't seen anywhere, so what version of graphics drivers have you installed on your systems ? They aren't same version probably. Make sure you have installed Catalyst 12.8 on both of them. RE: lower gpu util in linux - eljolot - 01-27-2013 Well both system have advantages and disadvantages. this could be and endless discussion like talking about religion and politics.
