rx 560 vs 1050 vs 1050ti - Vidramon - 12-07-2017

Hi all, I sell my old r9 270x card which do about 94 KH/s WPA/WPA2 which I only need. I want to buy a completly new card so here are the folowing details :

rx 560 4GB lowest price 140 euros
1050 2GB lowest price 120 euros
1050ti 4GB lowest price 165 euros

The main problem is that I can't find nowhere benchmarks for rx 560 ! The 1050ti is too expensive and I will not go with it if rx 560 can do same or similar results. The only thing I can see in the games rx 560 and 1050ti are equal, maybe a very very little advantage on rx 560 side.

So what you think ?

I have never seen benchmarks for the 560. I think I remember posting benchmarks of my 1050 in your previous thread. And I think 1050Ti benchmarks are floating around somewhere. I don't think gaming specs are really going to give an accurate representation as to what hashcat will do with the cards. I would say for the modest price difference, go for the Ti. If you are trying to stay at cheapest possible, then go with the standard 1050. I was never able to find a reference design (FE) 1050, so make sure cooling is adequate. Not sure if the 1050Ti comes in reference.

RE: rx 560 vs 1050 vs 1050ti - Vidramon - 12-07-2017

Yes I see benchmarks for 1050 and 1050ti, but can't find rx 560 nowhere Sad

What I was researching :

1050 640 cores 1350 mhz
1050 ti 768 cores 1300 mhz
560 1024 cores 1180 mhz

And I know r9 270x is 1280 cores 1000 mhz and do in my case 94 kH/s.

I found 1050 ti do 115.5 kH/s and 1050 do 94 kH/s ( your benchmarks ).

So I think that rx 560 must be at minimum as 1050 and r9 270x. I will select it since it is cheaper from 1050 ti and it means to me, but I want to see some bench results just to be sure.

At price of 165 euros I can only take one model 1050 ti the cheapest, and for 140 euros I can choose from couple of models rx 560 so that is second advantage since frst is lower price, and if it is close with benchmark results then it will definitely to be my choice.

If someone more experienced can calculate approximately bench results for wpa/wpa2 rx 560 from this info plase share with us. Smile

Comparing core count between completely different architectures is an awful measurement of performance. AMD cards are horrible when it comes to Hashcat. My RX 570 for mining might hit 150KH/s on WPA before it throttles. The 560 might get you half the performance since the core count is 1/2 that of the 570. Base core speed is about the same. Wait for Volta to drop in March and get one of the lower end models there.

FWIW, this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nepKEXIMuzM says the 1050 *benchmarks* around 90KH/s on WPA though real performance is around 61KH/s. Not sure if that is a good source or anything so I can't vouch for it's validity, especially since there are very few who know how to build and run proper systems for compute. Would love to hear epixoip's response on this Big Grin

Better to take numbers from other RX cards to compare the 560 to, as soxrock mentioned. Take numbers from a rx570 or 580 and compare those compute cores, then get a rough estimate of what the 560 should output.

I'm not sure that epixoip works with lower end cards. My benchmark for my 1050 was around 90 kH/s on WPA. If interested, I can run a brute force on the example hashcat wpa hash to see what real world h/s is.

RE: rx 560 vs 1050 vs 1050ti - Vidramon - 12-07-2017

@tacohashcat I will love to see real world of 1050 !
Since I think that this guy on YT video is untrue.

My r9 270x benchmarks 96064 H/s and in real world it do 93500 H/s whics is almost the same. So I love to see that 1050 but I think he is not in right.

Also I will try, to get some benchmark results from rx560, I don't know does I will succeed but I will try.

The real cracking speed depends on a few parameters. The more hashes you crack at once, the slower the speed. Which crack mode you're using is also important. Since we don't know what that guy from Youtube mean with real world speed, you should not worry about it.

Btw. the 1050 has the worst price/performance ratio. NVidia is interesting with the GTX1060 or up.

If you can afford it, have a look at a GTX1050, they start at ~100€ (new). Ti would be even better. They have fewer cores than a 270X, but at least 1.5x higher clock speed and the superior technology. And they're newer and need less power.

But when I choose the first card just couple months ago you recommend 1050/1050 ti.

Ok, I will probably give up from rx560 since I can't find a benchmark results and I read couple of hours some users complain on overheating in games ( models with one fan ), also reported lower performances than 1050 ti in games, it does not mean that will be in hashcat, but probably it is.

I firmly decide to find just a little more money to take better card and to finish with this agony. So gtx960 used from 125 euros 2GB verisons and from 145 euros starts 4GB versions also used. 1050 ti 4 GB new with 3 years warranty starts from 150 euros but model with one fan which I will skip, at 170-175 euros there are couple of 2 fans models so I will probably choose one of them.

Sorry, I don't. GTX 1070 is the lowest I'll go and even then I stopped offering it in the Brutalis as soon as the 1080Ti came out, making the GTX 1080 our lowest-end offering.

I did indeed. Does not change the fact. You seems to be on a very tight budget, otherwise my recommendation would be a GTX1060. The 2GB GTX 1050 is available for ~100€ in Germany, for that price the pp-ratio is ok. At 165€ for a GTX1050 Ti it isn't.
