What would you suggest as a second choice non-reference design for the 7970 GPU? I have searched high and low and see that the 7970 reference design is EOL right now. There has been much talk about the 8xxx series launching soon. However looking for your feedback on currently available 7970 non-reference design options at the moment.

i don't know what country you're in, but newegg currently has a large stock of reference design 7970s.
the 8xxx series is already out, and has been out for a while. the reason you have not heard of it, is because it's just a re-brand of the 7xxx series.
there is a rumor that a gcn2-based 9xxx series will be released in 2014q1, but i'm still skeptical.
