how do u reach such temps? is ur testing rig in a server cooled room?
i have an tyan FT77CB7079 running at full load 100% fan speed (of the gpu and the server fans) and i dont reach these temps
im with the 1080..

im with the 1080..
Probably in a proper datacenter or server room as you mentioned but also in a Brutalis case too. One can also specify "--gpu-temp-retain" to help retain a specific temp.
Also I highly doubt they are using Afterburner on an Ubuntu rig.

I do not use Afterburner as I do not use Windows. I use nvidia-settings/nvidia-smi, and yes I increased the power limit from 250W to 300W:

No, this is not in a Brutalis, nor in a datacenter. This is in my workstation sitting on the desk in my office (ambient ~24.5C). If I had a single 1080 Ti in a Brutalis in a server room, it would surely only run at 45-50C. 8x 1080 should only run ~55-63C in the Brutalis/FT77. If you're not seeing those temps, you're doing something wrong. I would expect 8x 1080 Ti to run 64~72C in the Brutalis, but we've only received 2 of the 9 we ordered, so I do not yet know.

Thanks for the comparo, I posted this to give an idea, literally threw the card in the closest machine I could find and had to download hashcat on it to get the benches up, it was by no means optimized and there were background apps running. That being said I have another Ti on the way from Nvidia (where both of my cards come from) so I will see if my results get closer to yours.
I also did not set fan speed or use any OC tools, this was right off of windows I was under the impression that's how "stock benchmarks" are captured, I am sure the card was thermal throttled to some extent.
Its probably also important to note that my card ran much hotter than your reported temps, and at this point has actually failed and is under RMA so maybe there was something actually "wrong" with my card.
