So lack of specific counter-evidence is now evidence? Your logic is pretty twisted. I'm not sure at this point if you're just trolling.

Here is a benchmark for Ryzen 1700X, it's easy to figure out how fast a slightly higher clocked 1800X would be.

RE: Ryzen 1800X CPU with 1080 Ti GPU - NikosD - 06-06-2017

@epixoip

RyZen 7 1800X is a mainstream desktop CPU which can only be compared to a mainstream desktop CPU - apples to apples comparison
And of course it's faster than the fastest mainstream desktop CPU ever built by Intel - Core i7 7700K

Threadripper is a HEDT CPU and can only be compared to Intel HEDT.
Threadripper is again faster than any Intel HEDT available (at least on 2017)

EPYC is a server/enterprise CPU and can only be compared to Xeons
Again, EPYC is faster than any Xeon

It's as simple as that.

@royce
@undeath
@epixoip

If I don't see Kabylake's Core i7 7700K results, everything else is just opinions.

RE: Ryzen 1800X CPU with 1080 Ti GPU - epixoip - 06-06-2017

This is hashcat. We don't aim for the mainstream, we aim for the extreme. We can and will compare the 1800X to the 7820X and beyond -- just as we compare the GTX 1080 Ti to the GTX 1060. In this community those are perfectly valid comparisons because high-end desktops are the low-end of what is acceptable here. Nobody here cares about mediocre mainstream bullshit.

And again, if you understand the math, you will understand why you do not need to see actual benchmark output to know how much faster one chip is than another for password cracking. But I will literally go buy a 7700K and benchmark it for the sole purpose of showing you that you have no clue what you are talking about.

EDIT: I just bought both a 7700K and an 1800X, along with motherboards for each. I will benchmark them just for you. Prediction: the 7700K will be at least 16% faster while being both 26% less expensive and at least 5% more power efficient.

RE: Ryzen 1800X CPU with 1080 Ti GPU - royce - 06-06-2017

@NikosD, if you don't see Kabylake's Core i7 7700K results ... then generate them yourself, post them, and let the numbers speak for themselves.

You continue to make claims that overall processor performance correlates with hashing performance, without supporting those claims with data. Statements are not data.

The suspense is palpable.

This is awesome of you to do. The benchmarks will be good information for the community, as well as settling a debate. Looking forward to the results.

Results from a 6700K. The 7700K is roughly 7% faster.
