RX 6900XT + Ubuntu 21.04 Problems - purpole - 07-13-2021

Hello!

I recently build a new PC with a Ryzen 5800X and a AMD 6900XT. Cracking on my Windows 10 partition works without problems, but on my Ubuntu 21.04 things don't go so well. So i downloaded the current version (6.2.2) and tried to start the example500:

So the GPU does not show up and the the CPU has a problem compiling stuff. I would like to be able to use both devices.

For the CPU I dont really know what I should do. For the GPU on the other hand I tried installing the amdgpu-pro driver via

Has anyone an idea on how to get hashcat running on my system or is my hardware 'too new'?

Looks like your UBUNTU 21.04 version is officially unsupported.

Yes, seems like it. Then I am probably gonna switch to windows when I need to crack a password. Better than installing an older ubuntu and then trying to install the drivers that do not officially support my GPU.

Kinda sucks that there is no software support for AMDs newest graphics cards.

You're absolutely right. Going back to an older version is no solution and downgrading single packages is no solution, too, because that will end up in a typical UBUNTU dependency hell.

Ubuntu 20 is still LTS and is supported...
