hashcat for SHA256 partial string? - torlib - 12-26-2022 Hi there, for a Christmas gift, I got a "hacking game" I'm halfway through it, but I'm a bit stuck now.. I have an IP address to SSH into. Separate to this I have the following instructions: The instructions read as follows: You can SSH into it [the server] with the username "defence". The SSH key is encrypted with a password. Use brute-force to crack it: - the password consists of 7 digits - the SHA256 of the password string starts with 49192A4F3F3 Is this something I can use hashcat for? If so, would anyone be kind enough to outline the steps? Thanks in advance.
