First GPU Acquisition for Getting Started with Hashcat - lulzsec - 02-20-2024

Hello everyone,

I’m just getting started with Hashcat and I’m in the process of making my first GPU acquisition. I’m looking for some advice on which GPU would be the best for a beginner.

I’m considering getting a single RTX 4090, but I’m also wondering if it would be more better for cost and energy efficient to combine several cheaper GPUs. Specifically, I’m interested in understanding the trade-offs in terms of cost, energy consumption, and cracking speed.

Does anyone have experience with these setups or can offer any advice? I’m looking for clear and simple answers (just post the combo of GPU or GPUs and a lil explanation why). Thanks in advance for your responses!

Just get the 4090. The advice around getting several smaller GPUs is still relevant in some cases, but the 4090 is currently extremely compelling across all stats/measures and combined with the simplicity afforded by running a single GPU vs several it is quite difficult to justify getting anything else if you can afford it.
