I cant use 5x4090 turns off if run hashcat with the parameter -O - tomei - 08-27-2024

I use this hardware:
5x4090 msi ventus
motherboard asus pro ws w790e-sage se
cpu xeon w5-3425
ram 64
power supply super flower 2x2000w
win 10

power supplies are connected like this 2x4090(motherboard+cpu+pcie8pin and 6pin)+3x4090 on the other power supply
Im using x16 raiser gen 4.0
if you run benchmark hashcat with parameter -O
hashcat.exe -b -w 3 -O
there is a click power supply and the system reboots.
If you run benchmark without the -O parameter everything will be successful and the system will not reboot.
If you remove one gpu leave 2x4090+2x4090 then everything works.
tried 3x4090(motherboard+cpu+pcie8pin and 6pin)+2x4090 does not work, also reboots with parameter -O
3x4090(motherboard+cpu+pcie8pin and 6pin)+1x4090 works!
Help where to dig, what to do?

And as you might have realized, it doesn't work with 5 video cards. If I plug in 4 or less, everything works.
All video cards have been tested to make sure they work.

well this sound more like a hardwareproblem, not related to hashcat itself

due to the mentioned "click" and reboot i think you have some problems with your PSUs (overload in powerconsumption) or some weird driver problem, you can try to turn off automatic reboot on failure in windows, so that you can actually see the "maybe" BSOD, driver problems mostly result in IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL errors.

I realize that the overload...
two 2000W power supplies and 5x4090(one 450w max)
and the motherboard is designed for 7x4090

RE: I cant use 5x4090 turns off if run hashcat with the parameter -O - tomei - 08-27-2024

p.s
I lowered the power limit to 60%.
That didnt solve the problem
if 5 GPU are connected, it turns off and reboots

Peak power is more than "max". Faulty psu? If using single outlet, you may go over limit.

Yea whats the rated outlet your connecting your power supplies too? If its a standard 15 amp 120VAC circuit you would be limited to ~1800W But judging by your calculations I'd say you're already using 220VAC or on a bigger circuit. The click in the power supply does that occur when you do a normal power up? Or strictly when the PC crashes running hashcat? Does running an attack work in hashcat or does it also crash? try lowering your workload to 2 and see if you have the same results. Enabling Optimizers in benchmark should not change anything other than seeing different results. Power consumption should be the same whether Optimizers are enabled or not.

What version of hashcat are you using?
What Graphic Drivers do you have installed?
Are you able to do hashcat -I and paste it here to confirm all information.

Perhabs your problem is not the main power supply from the GPUs (3x 8Pin), rather the power that the cards need from the PCIe-Port.

PCIe can spend 75W (no idea how much the 4090 need) , perhabs your mainboard couldnt give 5x 75W to the x16-Slots

if you are not sure, you can easyly test it with powered X1->x16 Riser cables (but you should use this cables only for testing Wink )
