Ethernet Laser - brazen bag boy - 11-29-2012

This is totally not related to hashcat but would it be possible to cut a Ethernet cable and replace the wire with lasers and have the other side pick it up with micro solar cells?

RE: Ethernet Laser - unix-ninja - 11-29-2012

umm... at that point, why not use fiber?

RE: Ethernet Laser - undeath - 11-30-2012

Why the solar cells? As long as you solder together some weird device to translate whatever comes out of the RJ-45 port to translate into a laser signal and solder another weird being to receive the laser signal and put things together again and forward the received data to another computer you can do it. Yes. It is possible.

i figured solar cells because they can be on/off

Don't think they are fast enough for transferring data.

you probably right, i would probably have to make a circuit of some sort, and by that time fiber optics would just be easier
