7970 reaches 90 celsius - tori - 03-23-2013

hello, my 7970 reaches 90 celsius and hashcat closes.
Is it harmful for the card?
what are the max temperatures?

90 is the threshold so you don't damage your gpu. Look at providing better airflow so the card doesn't run so hot.

Rolf recommends this.

+1 on better cooling for both the card and the case - cold air in, over the heat sinks, hot air out. Arctic has a great reputation, and it's really not that difficult to swap out the cooler. Also, the good aftermarket coolers tend to not only cool your card better, but also be quieter while doing so!

Failing that, you can always try a portable AC unit Smile

I think at first he need to set fan speed manually to high revs. Auto will always reach 90 degrees.
