VCL/IB cluster The-Distribution-Which-Does-Not-Handle-OpenCL-Well (Kali) vs Ubuntu - john99 - 05-27-2014

Hello

Many VCL/IB/Catalist-cluster-environments/howtos are Ubuntu-based. I am wondering why, because many standardtools included in The-Distribution-Which-Does-Not-Handle-OpenCL-Well (Kali) or BT could take advantage as well of such a Cluster...

Why is Ubuntu the recommended distro for this environment?

Thank's a lot for any feedback!

John

oclHashcat/cudaHashcat unforunately have some GPU driver dependencies.

There is only a limited list of operating systems supported by the driver.
Ubuntu 12.04 for instance is one of the supported OS by AMD etc.

If drivers are not well tested and expected to work on a specific OS, oclHashcat cannot recommend it (and maybe can't support it either).
