Monitoring the "Official NVIDIA 344.11 WHQL Display Driver Feedback Thread (9/18/14)" thread may be advised. Note the announcement of some updated drivers on page 23, about the "344.16 beta driver, only supports GTX 980 & GTX 970."

Explained as:
