980 TI Bench - blx - 06-04-2015

New to this, but thought I would attempt to contribute. The Titan X currently is the fastest card, but its MSRP is $1000...being sold for almost $1100 + on many sites (as of writing this).

The 980 Ti base model retails for $650. Specs are located at (hxxp://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-980-ti/specifications)

However, when using EVGA Precision X, it shows 1201 MHz not 1076? Anyway here was the bench.

Command used
Code:
cudahashcat64.exe -b > Bench.txt

Code:
cudaHashcat v1.36 starting in benchmark-mode...

RE: 980 TI Bench - ati6990 - 06-04-2015

16640.0 MH/s is very very kickass..... hard times for amd to get more speed.
did you buy only one card or more ?

RE: 980 TI Bench - inoo - 06-04-2015

It's very interesting..,
I think that looks nice performance, low power consumption

but using EVGA Precision X, it shows 1201 MHz not 1076?
How can I change GPU clocks frequency? like catalyst s/w? or dip switch?

RE: 980 TI Bench - kartan - 06-04-2015

Put it in my overview http://vm51.crossvault.de:3000/

Disclaimer: this is still beta and under construction

RE: 980 TI Bench - kartan - 06-04-2015

How is the heat production with +250 MHz? Is it sustainable without supporting cooling?

RE: 980 TI Bench - epixoip - 06-04-2015

None of the Maxwell cards have issue with heat. Even the Titan X at +225 runs low-mid 60s.

RE: 980 TI Bench - blx - 06-05-2015

so I left it running (also to do a burn in to a point) but even last night testing it this is the max I get with only 22 hashes in a file with straight MD5

Command used
Code:
cudahashcat64.exe --remove -w 3 -a 3 -m 0 supernoia.txt -o supernoiaCracked.txt -1 ?l?d!@#$%^&*/ ?1?1?1?1?1?1?1?1

maybe some tweaking needs to be done, of course using 1.36, maybe in 1.37 this can be tweaked??

any ideas would be great because while 10,000 is nice, 16 would be better Wink

By the way I only ordered 1 due to stock limitations, but today I saw it back on newegg for a VERY SHORT time and was able to put in another order....and its past the 48 hour cool down....SWWEEEETTTT.

RE: 980 TI Bench - epixoip - 06-05-2015

You're trying to compare single hash brute force vs multi-hash brute force speeds. Apples and oranges comparison. 10.5 GH/s for multi-hash when your single hash kernel gets 16.6 GH/s is pretty damn good. Normally you see ~50% loss.

RE: 980 TI Bench - Rolf - 06-05-2015

Guess we're looking at the best Maxwell perf/$; perf/TDP card, folks.
Probably the best card for hashcracking among all vendors in aforementioned "disciplines", but this needs confirmation.

RE: 980 TI Bench - blx - 06-06-2015

how do we "confirm" it?.. I have another card that should be here in a couple of days...should I do the same thing with BOTH or take the other one out and put the new one in and see if it is approx the same??
