For the price is there anything better out there? Recommendations really appreciated.

Those cards are two slots wide, but it looks like the card slots are spaced such that you can get all three in there?

epixoip says that the one-fan cards are superior, so that's good.

If you're primarily doing GPU hashcat, you won't need a lot of CPU. Other cracking activities do need CPU, though.

I'm not familiar with this board/CPU, but the GPUs are only going to pull 165W max each, so a 1600W power supply may be overkill.

RAM is cheap right now. You might want to bump up the RAM to 32GB (or more) so that you can do more PRINCE if/when you want to.

Thanks for that info. I was under the impression that 970's run high 200s(watts) when under load.

Ya I am looking for opinions on the cpu/motherboard. I got this suggestion from https://sagitta.pw/hardware/gpu-compute-nodes/inceptus/

It's certainly a solid all-around platform, but it may be more than you need depending on your goals. Are you just looking to do GPU hashcat (oclhashcat), or other things as well?

oclhashcat jobs don't need a lot of PCI-E bandwidth, so you can get away with x1 slots. But if you want to do John the Ripper, at least x4 slots are needed. I went cheaper on the board and CPU, and only four of my slots are x4 or higher, so when I run JtR jobs, two of my GPUs are starved for PCI-E bandwidth - but all six cards run flat out on oclHashcat.

I think my 970 power numbers are solid. My system idles at 105W, pulls 120W with all GPU fans forced 50%, pulls 315W with a paused oclhashcat job, and jumps to ~1050W with an active oclhashcat job on all six GPUs. So worst case, 1050W - 105W = 945W, and 945W / 6 cards = 157.5W per card.
