Hardware Review Please - KungFuPanda - 06-02-2016 I'm getting ready to build two of these boxes and wanted to know if I could get anyone's opinion on this. Also note that there is an extra GPU and extra PCI Riser card for a spare on the list. I will be running a 6 GPU host. Thanks in advance. Roughly the same/or lower price. RE: Hardware Review Please - atom - 06-06-2016 Yes, go 1080 RE: Hardware Review Please - KungFuPanda - 06-06-2016 I very much want to go with the 1080, but it is hard to find that many available as of right now. I am under a time crunch. Does the rest of the system look like it has any issues with compatibility ? RE: Hardware Review Please - atom - 06-07-2016 I don't know, the whole configuration looks wrong for me, but I'm not that much of a hardware specialist. CPU, RAM and Board is OK. Power is good but you may need to think about how you manage 2 of them. Cooler is not needed, go boxed. Storage why so many, a single SSD will do, too. Rig is OK but I think it's not enough space between the GPU's and not enough space between the board and the GPU to work on it, especially if you really want to use a CPU cooler. I think there could be better solutions. Any most important, the GPU. Wait 10 more days and the Shops will be flooded with 1080's. RE: Hardware Review Please - KungFuPanda - 09-08-2016 Well everything has been ordered and recieved. I am currently working on trying to get the box to work correctly. If I run lspci | grep VGA it shows all 6 of the video cards that are plugged into the Mobo, but if I try and run clinfo it shows no platforms. Going to keep digging through it to see if I can get it to work. If anyone has advice on getting more than 4 or 5 cards to work with Linux it would be greatly appreciated. RE: Hardware Review Please - kiara - 09-08-2016 did u try to run them on a windows machine ? what OS u have right now? which drivers are u using ? make sure u distribute the power from the psu to all the system (how did u distribute the cables?) meaning 5 cards on one psu and the system and other gpu to the second psu RE: Hardware Review Please - KungFuPanda - 09-08-2016 (09-08-2016, 07:59 PM)kiara Wrote: did u try to run them on a windows machine ? Thanks for the quick reply. Right now running Ubuntu 16.04, using the official Nvidia drivers from the Nvidia website. (1) Power supply handles the motherboard and 3 of the video cards. (1) Power supply handles 3 video cards. RE: Hardware Review Please - kiara - 09-09-2016 mind trying the same setup with ubuntu 14? or windows os to see if the same issue happen? like that we can start to diagnostic RE: Hardware Review Please - KungFuPanda - 09-09-2016 (09-09-2016, 12:00 AM)kiara Wrote: mind trying the same setup with ubuntu 14? or windows os to see if the same issue happen? Currently trying to get the box to work with Windows. I am thinking it might be a motherboard issue though, because sometimes it doesn't even post correctly. As I get more information i'll continue to post here. Maybe someone will need this information in the future. |
