Hashcat reducing GPU life - BOuRNe_AGAIN - 05-02-2017 Yesterday I was cracking a hash and I saw my core clock and temperature was fluctuating rapidly. I was wondering if this (or hash cracking as a whole) would have a negative impact on my GPU's lifespan? I'm using a Sapphire Nitro+ aftermarket RX480 if it helps, and I had to use --gpu-temp-disable to fix some sort of fan speed error. Thanks. RE: Hashcat reducing GPU life - K9 - 05-02-2017 Using my 6970 for years and it is still running without problems. RE: Hashcat reducing GPU life - SmnFz - 05-04-2017 Well, yes and no. The fans on the graphicscard is the part that gets most punishment.. Just keep the GPU below 70c for a long life. |
