yup. so is my PC

But as long as i can get around 20000-30000 hash a second im ok with it.

I currently get 268 h/s CPU

LOL

What would you recomend for my specs then...
il buy whatever i can get init without problems.

So anything upto 350-400 watt

But its gotta fit the PC

1 x 16 pci/e

2 gig ram , can upgrade this to 8-16 if need be

450watt

1tb hd

3.4 ghz

.. Any suggestions any1.

ASUS GeForce GTX 275 896 MB graphics card / PERFECT

i can see this card pulls 11000 hash a second

which is gotta be better than 268 h/s

But i would like to get this 1 if poss.#

Sapphire Radion Hd 7870

Seems the best one for my price range.

But will it work in my pc....

If you go with older video cards, you will likely not be able to run newer versions of hashcat, like @DanielG pointed out.
Curious as to why you are only looking at older AMD/ATI cards. Why not just get a 1050Ti?

RE: XFX ATI HD 5870 Radeon graphics card 1gb, AMD, PCI-e. - mysterdee888 - 03-28-2018

Cuz i have no idea if a newer graphics card will run on my PC

Is there any limitations.

Its a Pentium 4
3.4ghz
2gig upgradable
1tb HD

460watt

1 x pci/e 16

So, is there any limitations other than Power consumption and power ports...

Can i basically install any graphics card within the power consumption range.

thakns for any info..

Iv found a decent 5 series amd

 Radeon HD 5770: ~39500 PMK/s

Seems ok..

Seems like it will run on my pc too..

And half decent hash rate..

So i may give it a go...

What you rekon folks..

Is it a Good starter...

The 1050Ti will work fine with windows 7, since driver support is there. There are no 6 or 8 pin power connectors on most of the 1050Tis, but I have seen some with dual fan setup and a 6 pin cable. So if you have no 6 or 8 pin cables, choose wisely.

The only thing I am not certain of is that with your mobo being a gen2 pci-e, is the power output of the slot different than gen3. I know the 1050Ti is rated at 75w, so if your motherboard can support that much power, I would go that route. Newer technology, lower power consumption.

If your version of windows 7 is 64 bit, might want to look into adding more ram too. But ddr2 (iirc) may be hard to find.

Thanks for the info,

Iv gone n bought a cheap-o for £12

 radeon HD 5770 1gig GDDR5

Iv seen a few threads about this same card running in hashcat with benchmarks, So im hoping that i will manage to get the same results.

https://hashcat.net/forum/archive/index.php?thread-4521.html

I might upgrade my RAM to 4gig or 8gig just to be on safe side.

The power consumption is 175watt

My pc is  460watt

So it wont have any problems there.

i here drivers can be a little fussy with the newer hashcat versions, but there is a way around it as described in one of the forums.

The reason i got this card is because iv got nothing to loose for £12

And other people have run the same card under simlar specs as my pc.

Iv also seen on Youtube a video running the same card on windows 10 in a very low spec pc.

So my specs are looking ok for this card, Plus the card is the same age as my Pc, So its hould be ok,

iv calculated the h/s at

342 billion a day...

2 mil a minute

39500 hash/s

http://crackingservice.com/v2/?q=benchmarks

So fingers crossed, everything will be ok as long as i can get the drivers.

But if anybody see's any issues, let me know..

cheers.

Only issue with using OLD Hardware is that your support will be limited. I use to run a 5770 HD prior to my 1070 and had no issues with it. I was able to get ~38-44K h/s for WPA2 on Hashcat 3.20 from my recollection. However, the newest rendition of hashcat may throw errors as it is not OpenCL compliant, so you may need toggle a few parameters to get it to work. Also, using older HCCAP format in older hashcat versions has the possibility of "missing" the correct key just for your knowledge. I have not encounter this issue, but that was the reason for the upgrade to HCCAPX.

Good luck on your venture!
