fan control - robertgraham - 02-01-2012 A cracking job exited because it exceeded thermal limits. That's a good feature, but a better one might be to increase the fan speed instead of shutting down. I manually configured the fan to run 100%, and restarted the job. After 15 minutes, temperature is 59C -- which is actually lower than the 68C it started with. Of course, this could be a bad feature if running the fan at high-speed for too long could hurt it. After 43mins, temperature is now 58C with fan at 100%: [s]tatus [p]ause [r]esume [q]uit => s Status.......: Running Input.Mode...: Mask (?1?1?1?1?1?1?1) Hash.Type....: MD5 Time.Running.: 43 mins, 1 sec Time.Left....: 1 day, 6 hours Time.Util....: 2581270.6ms/418.7ms Real/CPU, 0.0% idle Speed........: 1037.7M c/s Real, 1034.8M c/s GPU Recovered....: 1344/822657 Digests, 0/1 Salts Progress.....: 2678677831680/114868566764928 (2.33%) Rejected.....: 0/2678677831680 (0.00%) HW.Monitor.#1: 98% GPU, 58c Temp [s]tatus [p]ause [r]esume [q]uit => RE: fan control - atom - 02-01-2012 I disagree. We had the same discussion on here: http://hashcat.net/forum/thread-774.html RE: fan control - robertgraham - 02-02-2012 You are probably right. Your time is probably better spent doing something else, like tweaking kernels, or getting my 7970 working :-) |
