Why hashcat doesn't support rainbow tables? Are they a good mechansim for password recovery?

IMO they are efficient only for LM hashes. They are also extremly slow when it comes to multihashes. So yeah, they are outdated.

You mean that dictionary attacks (Rule Based, Table-lookup, Mask) are more efficient than rainbow tables? Or reason is another?
