What ever happened with Gauss? - abc882 - 04-04-2020
I remember many years ago when I tried to learn about cryptography there was a big discussion about the Gauss virus and its odd encrypted payload. Atom developed oclGausscrack and I thought there were a lot of research groups working on cracking it.
Was there ever a resolution? Did someone crack the payload and realize they would be better off keeping quiet about it? Or did everyone give up and move on to new problems? Would technical advances make this more tractable in 2020 than it was in 2013?
