N is maximal length of the passwords to apply this rule on.
maby other way of writing?

Then why not just say it this way?
We call it toggle attack. But its better use rules, see here for a detailed description: http://hashcat.net/wiki/toggle_attack_with_rules
just do: -r rules/toggles5.rule
