Thread: why Hashcat v6.2.6 is slower than v4.1.0 (or 5.1.0)

Just a hunch, but maybe there is a bug such that it uses the optimized kernel in Versions 4.1.0 and 5.1.0 although it says pure kernel is selected.
You could figure out by feeding it long candidat... |

Might be related to changes to Autotune. How is the behavior on different workload profiles / without -w param?
Also, it seems strange that hashcat 6.2.6 doesn't recognize the CUDA backend. Maybe a... |

- Rockyou alone is way too small for a benchmarking scenario with a single NTLM, as you noted
- You are not using -O to enable the optimized kernel, which is enabled in benchmarks by default

Thread: Help w/ build
Post: RE: Help w/ build
DDR5 won't make a huge difference, since cracking is mostly done on the GPU directly. PCIe 5.0 is also not too important, unless you plan to operate your cards on x4 links.
As for the PSU: NEVER us... |

In general, unselecting the driver that is packaged with CUDA is a bad idea in my experience. A clean reinstall of the latest CUDA package from their website (https://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-downloa... |

The iteration count of your target hash(es) probably higher than the benchmark iteration count, so there is nothing you can do to speed things up. |

Have a read here: https://hashcat.net/wiki/doku.php?id=rule_based_attack
TLDR; Create your own rule file with the two lines
$x
$X
and specify it in your command with the -r Parameter. |

are oldoffice$4 hashes by now supported by the collider mode -m 9810? Alll hashcat versions prior to 6.0.0 reject $4 hashes with a "signature unmatched" message, but all versions starting with... |

Post: RE: Where are RTX 3060 Benchmarks?
It's kinda impossible that PCIe 3.0 x16 will be a a bottleneck in any scenario. In benchmarking it doesn't even matter at all, since the performance purely depends on the work, that is done on the GPU... |

If your budget is not enough to afford an enthusiast platform, I think you should stick with two 3090s. I'm also not sure, how good three 3090s would run with a single PSU, given that two of them can ... |

This error refers to your Intel iGPU (it says "Device 2" in front of the error), which is not used anyways. Cracking should work fine with your 1060. |
