I used a Ryzen 5 2700U in a Thinkpad A485 at work with hashcat for a while, although I did it on Windows. If you are just running straight wordlists it is slow but will thermally be OK for a few hours...

I have no trouble with -m 2500 on Vega 20 (Radeon VII) and a build of hashcat from git, using ROCm on Linux. I had to build from master to solve this problem in 5.1.0. Code: -- $ hashcat -d 2 -b...

Post: RE: any good results with Vega GPUs?

They're largely not worth it, unfortunately. It's probably better to get a 1080Ti than the older Vega cards; cooling wasn't as great and they are on a larger process. Functionally speaking, it is b...

are you aware of a way to fix the iteration counts hashcat decides to use for benchmarking? the variability makes easy comparison difficult on tests like this.

You won't have any issue with any T-series Skylake or higher on a single 1080. A company I worked for ran a Kaby Lake i7-T processor on an 8x1070Ti rig for quite a while with minimal performance impac...
