Post: RE: Build from source 100x slower than prod

Can you post the output from both versions? Nothing that has changed in the git version should have caused such a significant slowdown for you. If you want a version built from the latest github you c...

I meant exotic optimization methods like new situation-specific optimized kernels. Pulling down the length of passwords and editing or ordering the keyspace of an attack should be relatively simple op...

I think some of those rules could be avoided, but that's something i would generally consider "acceptable inefficiency" for fast hashes. The trade off in trying to get the storage/processing to remove...

Right, and there's some things that simply can't be avoided, so be careful with those numbers. For example this password and these two rules: password Z1 $d Both will produce the plain...

So it sounds like, but correct me if i'm wrong here, you have a wordlist and some rules you are using for your attack. You want to limit the length of passwords that are tested by modifying the kernel...

Try not setting -w 4 and see what happens.

What scrypt settings are you running and what hardware are you running it on?

So you just want to reduce the length of valid passwords? Because you don't gain speed in the kernel computation itself in doing so, only overall work in terms of reduced keyspace. You could do this w...

How did you work that speed increase out? Genuinely curious where it's coming from, i could play with doing this but im not sure its actually going to do much.

I don't understand your request here, you want to lower the maximum allowed password length of the kernel? Why? You likely won't gain much, if any speed by doing so.

Interesting, that one is a different length. I will need to handle variable length.

I can do this, but it'll take me a bit to make sure all tests pass. The password to that example is just "bit"? all lowercase, 3 letters?

I will take a look at this and see if there is an issue with this kernel. It's possible its either a driver/runtime bug or something on our end.

Firstly, please update Hashcat to at least 6.1.1 Release and retest if your behavior is not expected. Second, DES KPA is one of many modes that i believe can have collisions. Many keys may produce...

The benchmark cost is 05 (32 iterations), your hashes cost is 10 (1024 iterations). It really is that slow.
