Are we going to see a 72 gpu rack in 2020 :)?

SO i came across this today http://www.cocolink.co.kr/product.html

they have a line of product called Klimax, this year they suppose to deliver a 24 Pci rack
and in 2020 a 72 slots :o

i wonder how good they are going to be

My first reaction is this.  Is there a home or apartment anywhere that has the electrical connections to accommodate the power requirements?  It's only home is probably a proper data center with the necessary electrical connections and EXTREME cooling.

Even if you can power a beast like that, with 72 GPUs under full load, I won't ever need to turn on my heat in the dead of winter.

As far as how "good" it will be, what is your definition of good?  Being able to brute force some keyspaces with ease is the only benefit that I can think of.  I imagine there are quite a few downsides.  It's less portable, uses a lot of electricity, generates a lot of heat, is too expensive for most consumers, and if you have a failure, then that entire node goes down and becomes useless until repairs are made.

Good find though.  We will definitely be paying attention to developments made with these setups.

It may surprise you to learn we've already built clusters much, much larger than 72 GPUs.

The top three clusters we've built, in order of performance:

Code:
160x GTX 1080 - 10.2 TH/s NTLM
320x GTX 980 - 8.4 TH/s NTLM
160x GTX 980 Ti - 5.4 TH/s NTLM

holy damn what an insane power, but its multiple of racks  (20) with 8 cards in each am i right?

when you say "rack" do you mean "server"?

Yeah, I think he's misunderstanding what "rack" means in this context. 160 x GTX 1080 would be 20x 4U Brutalis systems in two 42U racks. The 10-GPU Klimax raises the rack density from 80 GPUs per rack to 100 GPUs per rack. It's an interesting system for sure, but there are several design aspects I'm skeptical of. I considered ordering one back when they were first mentioned on the forums a little over a year ago, but all of our focus right now is on our upcoming 9-GPU systems that will eventually replace the Brutalis.

in the mean time, did u saw asrock are going to release a mobo with 13 pci , the purpose of this mobo is ofc btc(or other mining) but that would be interesting to see how hashcat would work in such system , i must mention that would work only with risers

Yeah, not really something I'm interested in.
