All,

I have a Multibit bitcoin wallet that I forgot the password for. I believe that I know the pieces for the most part. it is something like 8chars 4numbers 4 numbers and same 8chars. Obviously it isn't that exactly or I would have already got in. each section is separated by 2 consecutive chars (like ##). I need to get access to this before the price of BTC drops, not a lot in there, but enough to make it worth a couple hundred to get someone to help me solve. I have a new box with 4th gen intel quad core and 2 MSI 270x GPU'sd (Crossfire) and 16gb ram, currently running windows 8.1. the wallet was created on a mac, but that shouldn't matter.

Anyone want to take a stab at it?

Thanks,
After this I was thinking about Cuda emulation but I'm not sure whether it would work and whether it would make sense, since Cuda emulation works on the CPU. Did someone maybe try to use hahashcat with Cuda via emulation or is there a way to use the older quadro GPU?

Hello,
I'm trying to crack automatically generated password encrypted by md5.
I know all possible combinations. It's about 4B (2^32).
Each password is 8 symbols long(62 characters), so making mask is not an option here(218340B passwords).
So I'll jump to my problem. With my GPU oclExample0.sh makes about 1B/sec md5.
But, when I'm trying to use wordlist - It shows speed about 11-25M/sec.
I understand that copying data from SSD is not fast enough. So I tried to speed up it by creating tmpfs in RAM (DDR3 PC3-14900) and storing part of my wordlist there. The result was even worse - 11M/sec.

Ok. Here is the question: How do I speed up cracking by wordlist?

I wonder what are my options to crack this single sha1. Cross the wordlist option!

I couldn't find non outdated manual to understand the commands, they're really confusing me so I hope I came to the right to get help So what do you say?

@Btw last time I was involved into hash cracking the gui version was easy to use, I see now it's outdated and I see a mess there in downloads section

Does hashcat plan to support ASIC Chips like what avalon is cranking out for bitcoin mining?

Not built for this specifically, but it seems like the next logical step after gpu's, and since they are basically just chips custom built for nothing but running sha256 compares as fast as possible, It shouldn't be too tough to integrate. Hell, they are using alot of the same metrics we are already.

It would represent a dramatic increase in the potency of any decent mask supporting pw recovery tool.
(a 5 gigahash/second box is only about $250)

terrahash seems the most intresting prospect right now....
