Descrypt 8 Char PW - 512bytes - 11-29-2017 How long would it take to crack an 8 char DESCrypt password composed of ?a?a?a?a?a?a?a?a using a GTX 1060 ? RE: Descrypt 8 Char PW - royce - 11-29-2017 I couldn't immediately find any public benchmarks on 4.x hashcat for a 1060. If you happen to have one, run that actual attack and check the time estimate; that will be the most accurate way to get your answer. RE: Descrypt 8 Char PW - 512bytes - 11-29-2017 OK, the card doesn't arrive for a week or so. Its was either a GTX 970 or 1060, and the 1060 seemed a lot faster. RE: Descrypt 8 Char PW - undeath - 11-30-2017 Code: OpenCL Platform #2: NVIDIA Corporation edit: w2, w3 gets you up to ~450 MH/s RE: Descrypt 8 Char PW - royce - 11-30-2017 undeath, cool - yours? Was that under -w 4? Here's one for 6x 1080s, -w 4: Code: Hash.Type........: descrypt, DES (Unix), Traditional DES RE: Descrypt 8 Char PW - 512bytes - 11-30-2017 Thanks for the benchs. I saw a benchmark on the GTX 970: Hashtype: descrypt, DES(Unix), Traditional DES Workload: 128 loops, 256 accel Speed.GPU.#1.: 89998.0 kH/s Why's it so much slower than the 1060 ? RE: Descrypt 8 Char PW - royce - 11-30-2017 Faster base clock (1708 MHz vs1050 MHz) ? https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/10series/geforce-gtx-1060/ https://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-970/specifications RE: Descrypt 8 Char PW - 512bytes - 11-30-2017 Ah, good that means I can OC and get more speed. RE: Descrypt 8 Char PW - royce - 11-30-2017 For a single 1060, it will still take four months, I would think. Once done I can put them in to a secondary PC (which has an old GTX 260 at the moment). |
