When I try to open, a cmd window pops up for a second, and then nothing.
What to do?

hashcat is a command line interface (CLI) program, please read the wiki (https://hashcat.net/wiki/ ) and especially ( https://hashcat.net/wiki/doku.php?id=ubernoobs ) to understand what that means.
