Dual CPU vs Single CPU - TechByTom - 09-30-2015
Currently considering a Tyan FT77AB7059, but I'm curious if I would need to populate both sockets, or if it would just address fewer lanes per card when using a single CPU. Anyone care to help me out?

Just noticed the similar title on another thread. To clarify, this isn't a question about CPU speed, it's just a question of if a single CPU will work to address 8 cards in a Tyan FT77AB7059.

Look at the block diagram in the manual (page 69) and the answer should be apparent. And if you really needed to ask this question, then you will likely struggle badly trying to get this system online. It is not for the faint of heart.
