Hi im a new hashcat user but need to recover an important password for a friend.

What OS and settings should i run to get best hashing performance for 26600? Is Ubuntu still the best OS for Hashcat? I guess you'd put it in CLI mode and disable the GUI ? SMT (hyper threading) on/off? Specific drivers that work better?

Rig Details
CPU: 5950x
RAM: 32gm
NVMe: samsung 990 pro
GPU: RTX 4090

Would i see any benefit going to 64gb ram?

I created a separate thread asking how to get hashcat to generate lists using all cores, not just one.

One GPU card is not enough for rig
The best is Linux can be Ubuntu
64 GB of RAM will not speed up the work significantly.
