Cat Omega
#1
Has anyone here tried Catalyst Omega driver with GPGPU? Does it work with current oclHashcat at all? Is it anything other than a flashy name for a new version with brand new driver bugs (and none of the old ones fixed)? Or did they actually improve things?
#2
I've tried it a bit. So far I can say it's one of the worst drivers ever. Only half the speed for descrypt and fails on compilations of other kernels that worked before with 14.9. I've stopped testing but sooner or later we have to deal with this

Tried on beta descrypt only. For me it look's +-normal:

Code:
oclHashcat64.exe -b -m 1500 --force

Mmm, but you're on VLIW5 not GCN.

They really have me wondering what they use for testing and benchmarking. Are they testing or benchmarking at all, for that matter? Do they care at all about GPGPU? It has to cost them a lot to support OpenCL in the first place so if they couldn't care less, why do they even bother?

OCL working fine with the lastest amd driver beta 11.9, it's possible to take the OCL 1.32 ?

thx

oclHashcat releases are tied to specific Catalyst versions. For the current release of oclHashcat you need to use 14.9. Newer drivers only work with beta, and in this case, it doesn't work very well.
