AMD 6800 GPU Benchmarks - mi7chy - 11-20-2020

Keep in mind it's in an ITX case so not thermally optimal.  For example, -m 2500 from idle hits 820 kH/s which is close to 3080 and almost double from 5600XT.

*May be incomplete. Will rerun when new Hashcat version is available.

hashcat (v6.1.1-116-gfb219e0a6) starting in benchmark mode...

Benchmarking uses hand-optimized kernel code by default.
You can use it in your cracking session by setting the -O option.
Note: Using optimized kernel code limits the maximum supported password length.
To disable the optimized kernel code in benchmark mode, use the -w option.

RX 6000 series cards by AMD are a lot faster using Hashcat 6.1.1 than nVidia 3000 series.

I wonder if it's 128mb cache will negatively affect real-life speed on big hash lists cracking.

Thanks for the link, although the values for the RTX 3080 are ~10% off the pace compared to these results: https://imgur.com/a/Fy4nGAH

But then Phoronix is ofc the more legit source, so AMD is clearly back in the game. At least performance-wise.

Phoronix results are OpenCL, but linked image displays CUDA results.

I've got the 6900xt up and running in Windows and Ubunto 20.04.  I used the amdgpu-pro headless install, and it appears to be working fine with Hashcat due to its low-level ROC OpenCL support.  I lose ROC-smi controls for now, but I knew that'd be the case.  I'm also curious about the card reporting half of its total CUs in all OpenCL scenarios, but I haven't had enough time with it to dive into that 

Getting Bad Driver / More Work message when I do a pure brute force attack against an NTLM hash in either environment, but that seems to be a bottleneck on the attack rather than the card or driver.

I'll pull some benchmarks if anyone is interested.
