I believe it was a 10 year old Mac. It was a filevault 2 hash. Given the age and OS, I would have thought the computer would have been using APFS but somehow it was not.

Interesting. Although I'd need a lot more than that for all the possible combinations of ?? and ?1 ?????1?1?1 etc etc. It's a lot but it's finite.

Well I'm not entirely sure what exactly you mean by attack type. If you mean which hash algo then I can tell you I'm pretty much only going to be using -m 16700 to help people get back into their Macs...
