Thanks again for the help.  I entered my version of the command in your example but kept getting an error when I combined the attack mode 1 with the best64 rule.

I figured out a way to combine the 2 txt files a different way.  Is there a place to download some of the other rules other than what come with the HC download?  Specifically,  the One rule to rule them all and possibly the unix ninja rule.

I think you do not understand hashcat very well. Rules are just a help with certain problems. I think you are just blatantly trying with some random data, mixing it, throwing it at the wall, and hoping something sticks.

If you want, you may contact me in private and explain in detail what have you been alredy done.

Definitely true on both counts as I was thrilled to just get hashcat actually running in a terminal.  Thank you and I'll take you up on that.
