Thanks for the suggestion, it improved the benchmarks very slightly, about 1%.  (Am I missing a trick by not getting the AWS CPUs to run as well?  There are 32 Xeon cores in this vm)

Here's the M 9600 benchmark, which was  the same under the regular -b.  (I also ran a dictionary attack on an m 9600 hash, just in case the workload setting didn't work in benchmark mode, and that worked at the same 180k p/s)
