GT 555M Issue
#1
Hello everyone,

This is my first post, so I hope I dont screw the rules up too bad here.

I am having an issue with getting cudaHashcat-plus64.bin to run correctly on my Ubuntu box. I know I am probably missing something easy but it almost seems that its not utilizing my GPU. I identifies it correctly, but I dont see any confirmation that it working on the hash. Here is what I get:

./cudaHashcat-plus64.bin -m 500 /Souless/Desktop/Shadows/example.hash -n 80 /passwords/wordlists/custom.lst

cudaHashcat-plus v0.07 by atom starting...

Hashes: 1
Unique salts: 1
Unique digests: 1
Bitmaps: 8 bits, 256 entries, 0x000000ff mask, 1024 bytes
Rules: 1
GPU-Loops: 64
GPU-Accel: 80
Password lengths range: 1 - 15
Platform: NVidia compatible platform found
Watchdog: Temperature limit set to 90c
Device #1: GeForce GT 555M, 3071MB, 1180Mhz, 3MCU

And thats it, no Allocation of memory, no status...

However, my fans start to spin up immediately and will not rev down until it kill the process.

Any ideas?

I am running BT5 R2 64bit KDE, with an Optimus chipset (Intel 3000HD and Nvidia GT555M graphics cards)

Does anyone have a similar setup, or have seen a similar issue?

I searched the forum before asking and so far didnt find anything related to this.

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried to reduce workload? With tools like this better to start with lowest value: -n 1

BT5 R2 64bit drivers are out of date
#5
Agreed. I am actually using drivers from xorg-edgers and bumblebee.
#6
install original drivers from nvidia, 290.x
