is open cl, embedded within standard AMD GPU driver package?
cant find details on AMD site.

something about SDK 2.0...but looks like a really old link.

current driver.
Adrenalin Edition 17.12.1
CARD-Gigabyte RX480
Win10/64

also.....which has the steepest learning curve?
1. learning hashcat GUI (or is this even recommended as a first step into learning HC?) 
2. learning hashcat native:   Win cmd line

also....
is  KECCAK-256 version (hashcat) compatible with ethereum algo?
or should i be using SHA-3  or other variant?

Do not install the SDK.

The GUI is not an official hashcat product, it is a third-party offering and is not supported here.

Hashcat has specific modes for cracking Ethereum wallets.

The only error here is that Hashcat did not like the hash you supplied (by the way, do not post hashes here.) It appears you've selected the correct mode for the hash you're trying to crack, but it also looks like your hash file also includes the hashcat command line as well? The hash file should contain only the hash(es), nothing else.
