Hi Guys,
Can you cast your eyes over a build spec I have been putting together?
Graphics: Radeon HD 7990 x2 £700
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD7 £160
CPU: AMD FX-8320 £115
RAM: Corsair CMZ16GX3M2A1866C9 Vengeance £100
PSU: G1600-MA-EU £190
Case: Aerocool Bx-500 Black Edition Midi Tower Case £65
Hard Disk: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM x3 £160
Cooling: Arctic Fans £40
------
£1530
In particular whether or not it's worth getting, 2x 7970x2's or more 7970's for the same price (not sure why this would make a difference...) or looking at the 290 although so far they seem to have pretty poor reviews in the cracking world
-- EDIT --
Just Realised that the 7970x2 is essentially the 7990.... my bad....
Thanks in advance of your awesomeness

Stick with 7970s, you won't be able to cool the 7990s in that case.

^ this. three or four 7970s will do well with it though. but you need to make sure that case can handle four 7970s with the UD7. most can't.

What about a case like this and a few delta fans?

Good point, most of the time, the bottom slot is too low to fit double/triple slot cards. I don't know how the motherboard sits in this case but it's likely that 4 GPUs will not work without some fiddling around with PCI-E extenders and probably an open case.

that chassis you linked to definitely won't hold four GPUs.
the best chassis for the UD7 is Chenbro RM41300-FS81.

Understood. I am just looking for the possibility of two 7990's with enough space so one doesn't overheat the other. (Without going the way of liquid cooling.)
That board and that case "looks like" it may do the trick. Since I know you are the expert, your opinion is greatly appreciated.
Enough openness and airflow in you opinion to run 2 7990's?
Thanks in advance...

I doubt it- I have a Cooler Master CM Stacker, big honkin' case; has 1 190CFM intake, and 2 190CFM exhaust, and it wasn't even close to working with two 7990s.
The Chenbro is pretty much the same configuration, but has two 80mm exhaust fans instead of 120mm. I don't see how it could work for the bottom card.

Thats good to know...but I am curious because I see boxes with like 8-10 7990s and not watercooling so somebody has it figured out somewhere ;-)

8-10 HD7990 you could saw in your dreams. Max number of GPU (AMD) you can use is 8. HD7990 is dual GPU card.
