ASIC stands for "application specific integrated circuit" REPEAT AFTER ME "application specific" (the Bitcoin stuff is SHA-256 for example) this is where things get scary. Scary along the lines of FPGA. Scary along the lines of a particular agency that has a motto, "We BUILD what we cannot BUY"
