Crashing PC along with errors

So can't crack your hash because it isn't the hash for the password you think it is.

You think your plaintext is "password", but it's actually "password\n", that is: password followed by a newline

I'll demonstrate:

pdo@newmac ~ % echo password | md5
286755fad04869ca523320acce0dc6a4

but if I use the "-n" option for echo (meaning don't append the newline)

pdo@newmac ~ % echo -n password | md5
5f4dcc3b5aa765d61d8327deb882cf99
