Wow... what a ride man. Its been crazy. i'm not pointing the finger at Hashcat here, but I just wanted to post what has been going on with me and hashcat.
So ... it all started as in this thread.
1. Hascat in Windows keeps crashing

2. Install Backtrack.
2a. Have a hell of a time getting ATI drivers working properly in Backtrack but eventually succeed.
2b. Backtrack then tells me "Hashcat is out of date"

3. Install The-Distribution-Which-Does-Not-Handle-OpenCL-Well (Kali).
3a.Have a hell of a time getting ATI drivers working properly in The-Distribution-Which-Does-Not-Handle-OpenCL-Well (Kali), don't ever succeed.

4. Reinstall Windows. Hashcat works.
Not forgetting that each stage of the above is interspersed with maybe 2.5 - 3 hours of "tinkering" to try and get things to work.
Right now... i'm exhausted, and i hate linux. I'm not a noob, but nor am i a pro either. And i should have just saved my time and reinstalled windows striaght away. Instead of spending many hours trying to inject patches into drivers etc.
So... there we go.
