Hello there, I'm new on this area of security, and I've used some random characters with symbols and numbers to lock a .7z file. I've searched a lot but came to no conclusion. Can you please me guide me through if there is possible to recover this file or password or it is just lost? Thanks you very much for your help! EDIT: Note that I have am using windows 10 and I have a MSI RX6600 with a AMD ryzen 5 5600 6-Core Processor, if that helps. Thank you again.

Hello! By any chance, do you remember how many characters the password was?

Maybe, but just given how slow 7z hashes are, it'd be very unlikely to crack anything, unfortunately unless you remember lots of the password or composition of it. If there are even 4-5 characters you don't know, then it'd be practically impossible to crack, so if you knew it was "Penguin????" (question marks being the parts you don't know) then it may be possible, but just basic composition info probably wouldn't be enough for a randomly generated password.
Your best chance is probably to assume it wasn't randomly generated and hope it was something basic like "youthmp123". May that be a possibility or are you sure it was a random-ish password? |
