I tweaked http://itsecblog.net/downloads/batchcrack.sh to do some extra bits .. there may be better or more updated script but I think this is good to start

" the mask only matches exact length not incremental "

how does this look ?:

Code:
rem example brute by char to 7 max chars in ~5min  with GTX 560 example hash '2d9f0b052932ad18b87f315641921cda:user' password is password ...
cudaHashcat-plus32.exe -o out.txt -a3 -1 "?l?u?d!@#$-().*_" -m1100 mscache2 ?1
cudaHashcat-plus32.exe -o out.txt -a3 -1 "?l?u?d!@#$-().*_" -m1100 mscache2 ?1?1
cudaHashcat-plus32.exe -o out.txt -a3 -1 "?l?u?d!@#$-().*_" -m1100 mscache2 ?1?1?1

Yes I added that just to be sure.. I also tried with 8 but even with 10+ it should still get it NO ?

Code:
+ ./cudaHashcat-plus64.bin --custom-charset1 password --attack-mode 3 --hash-type 1100 2d9f0b052932ad18b87f315641921cda:user '?1?1?1?1?1?1?1?1?'

I tried to "re-produce" your problem but I couldn't.
Code:
hc64p -a3 -1 pasword -m1100 DCC.hash ?1?1?1?1?1?1?1?1
...
cudaHashcat-plus v0.08 by atom starting...
...
2d9f0b052932ad18b87f315641921cda:user:password

Status.......: Cracked
...

Try this command-line:
Code:
hc64p -a3 -1 pasword -m1100 2d9f0b052932ad18b87f315641921cda:user ?1?1?1?1?1?1?1?1

operat0r: nope there's a trailing '?' in your most recent attempt. the mask only matches exact length not incremental
