Hey all,
Since VCL obviously worked at SOME point in time, can anyone with a working VCL setup please list out the following that they are using?
VCL Version:
Hashcat version:
GPUs:
Operating system:
Any modifications to any of the files out of the norm:
Thanks.

i'm working on getting more debug information to mosix, so that they can hopefully figure out what is going on with 1.22. they know there is a problem, they just don't know what is causing it or how to fix it.
in the meantime i'm also investigating some promising alternatives to vcl.

Sounds good, I appreciate you looking into this. I spoke to Unix Ninja, and unfortunately for my setup, disthc won't be the way to go (but in a while he may have a new version ready to go).
Keep us posted as to what alternatives you find. I'm in touch with Mosix as well (I shared my output with them, maybe it will help).
I will let you know if I happen to stumble upon any moderately easily-adaptive alternatives as well.

Hello epixoip,
Do have a listing of known issues with VCL V1.22? Or is there trac describing all issues surrounding vcl? Is it known to function under a previous release of Ubuntu/VLC by Mosix(eg 12.04.1 & VLC 1.15?) I have been reviewing some of your posts such as:

Is there any point to continue to acquire VCL related hardware for those interested? You also eluded to some new alternative to VCL coming soon (VCL replacement?); can you state whether or not this will work alongside or require infiniband hardware? As we know there is some modest costs with acquiring infiniband hardware and we are trying to gauge on how to proceed with your feedback.

the two major issues with 1.22 are the devices randomly changing properties at runtime, and vcl thinking that devices are no longer available or are otherwise already busy.
there definitely is a point to acquiring hardware for a VirtuaCL cluster. just because this version is broken, as is the last version, doesn't mean the next version won't be broken
the point being, eventually a good solution will emerge. be it VirtualCL or something else. the other solution we are investigating will also require infiniband hardware. pretty much any cluster middleware will. so it's definitely worth the investment, even if it means having to hold off for a bit on a middleware solution. in the meantime you can manually distribute the load, and enjoy having a super fast interconnect for scp'ing wordlists back and forth
